Diabetic foot (DF) is one of the most severe complications diabetes that significantly reduces quality life and survival patients. Besides firmly established risk factors, novel data indicate alterations in lipid metabolism might also be implicated development progression DF. dyslipidemia characterized by atherogenic triad, consisting increased triglycerides (TG), decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels presence small, dense low-density (LDL) particles. Accumulating evidence suggests profound hypertriglyceridemia HDL-C reduction are common findings patients with diabetic neuropathy contribute to an for DF, amputation mortality. Small, LDL particles play important role cardiovascular diabetes, but their clinical importance DF remains established.
